Inside Wedding with very Low Lighting for the Ceremony
Setting: Auditorium in a church in California
Photographer: Dale Kesterson Hingle (not the primary photographer for the wedding)
Notes: I attended this wedding as a member of the family shortly before I turned professional. The primary photographer was very generous to me, letting me get the angles and photos that I wanted. As a family member, I was able to go into the area where the bride was getting ready (something the primary photographer couldn’t do!), and I was also able to get more candids than usually possible.
The lighting in the small auditorium was terrible. It was set up as a media venue, which meant that the actual podium was well-lit, and that was all. Since the whole stage area was needed for the ceremony, the overall situation for a photographer was chancy. It was good experience; the bride was grateful that I was able to fill in some of the gaps.
